State Ministry for the Environment on Thursday (31/07) at Balai Sudirman held Environmental Awards Night as 2008 Rank Assessment Program for Company Performance (PROPER). The event is as a government award to various stakeholders those have shown innovation and fully dedication against the environmental management in Indonesia. “PROPER is a requirement to develop not to punish,” The Minister for the Environment, Rachmat Witoelar, said at the Environmental Awards Night: PROPER 2008.

This year, as many as 74 textile companies joined in the program. The result showed that 2 companies got green category, 19 companies were as blue category, 25 companies were minus blue category, 8 companies got red category, 8 companies were minus red category, and 12 companies got black category. “For textile, the waste output must meet the waste quality standard as already stipulated. The company is evaluated whether or not over the standard limit including water, gas, and solid,”
